Your reporting can minimize the potential negative impact to the University and its community. Reportable activities may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Theft, fraud, waste or abuse of resources;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Misuse of government funding;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forgery or the alteration of documents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accounting or financial irregularities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Violations of laws, regulations, policies or procedures;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bribery;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conflicts of Interest<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regular business matters and employment-related concerns should continue to be reported to your supervisor, local HR representative, or to the Vice President of HR (401-874-5270). Concerns relating to students should be directed to the Dean of Students Office at <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/deanofstudents\/report-it\/\">Report It \u2013 Dean of Students Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Reporting Process<\/h1>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hotline is supported 24\/7 by a third-party vendor, Mitratech. They maintain a comprehensive anonymous internet- and telephone-based reporting process. Upon submission of your report, you will receive a case and PIN number to check back on the status of your report or share additional information. An acknowledgment letter confirming receipt of the report will be posted to the case file within two (2) business days of submission.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Confidentiality<\/h1>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reporters to the hotline can remain anonymous. Calls are not traced or recorded, and IP addresses are not logged. No one will know you are the reporter unless you willingly identify yourself during the call or while completing the report. The information you provide will be treated as confidential and privileged to the extent permitted by law. It is possible that as a result of the information provided, the reporter&#8217;s identity may become known. <\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Review &amp; Investigation<\/h1>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upon receipt of the report, the Director of Enterprise Compliance will review to identify if the scope:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>falls within an existing University office jurisdiction and will facilitate handoff to the appropriate team; or <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>falls within the scope of a <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/policies\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/policies\/\">University Policy<\/a> and applicable laws and regulations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>has a foundation or basis on fact;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is continuing or not sufficiently mitigated; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is sufficiently creditable and specific so that the potential evidence of violation may be identified.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the conditions are met, the Director of Enterprise Compliance will conduct or coordinate the investigation, which includes collecting relevant information and documentation and interviewing sources. Upon completion, a final report will be issued with the findings, disposition, and recommended actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The final report will be provided to the university officer who has authority to institute recommended corrective measures. At the discretion of the University and subject to legal and other constraints, the individual reporting may receive information about the outcome of the investigation.
