{"id":3271,"date":"2023-05-18T15:27:11","date_gmt":"2023-05-18T19:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/espd\/?page_id=3271"},"modified":"2026-06-29T12:47:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T16:47:19","slug":"geosciences-minors","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/espd\/academics\/geosciences-minors\/","title":{"rendered":"Geosciences Minors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Minors are available in <a href=\"#geosciences\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#geosciences\">Geosciences<\/a> and in <a href=\"#geological-oceanography\" data-type=\"internal\" data-id=\"#geological-oceanography\">Geological Oceanography<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To complete a minor you need to take at least 18 credits in an approved set of courses, with no more than 6 credits at the 100-level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no set of required courses for either minor, so you can propose a set of courses based on your interests. All students considering a minor in Geosciences or Geological Oceanography should take GEO 103: Understanding Earth as a foundation course, but the remaining courses are flexible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get started, look through our <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/espd\/academics\/course-descriptions-geo\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"3218\">course offerings<\/a> to find courses that are of interest to you.
