{"id":26,"date":"2023-05-08T10:47:30","date_gmt":"2023-05-08T14:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/esteemed\/?page_id=26"},"modified":"2026-07-10T13:00:27","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T17:00:27","slug":"activities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/esteemed\/activities\/","title":{"rendered":"Activities"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-tabs-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-tabs  \">\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Summer Bridge Program<\/h1>\n\n<p>ESTEEMED Scholars begin their training during the week-long ESTEEMED Academy program the week before classes begin and includes activities and seminars on topics including STEM technology, use of AI, bioengineering, introduction to research, lab tours, social activities, etc.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Academic Year Training<\/h1>\n\n<p>During the academic year, ESTEEMED scholars will participate in semester-long training and support and will participate in mandatory activities exclusive to URI ESTEEMED Scholars, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Weekly ESTEEMED meetings,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cohort study sessions,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Individual and small group meetings with professors,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mentored laboratory research experiences, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel to national scientific research conferences.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Mentored Research<\/h1>\n\n<p>ESTEEMED Scholars will participate in pre-research training during their freshman year in preparation for meaningful year-round mentored research in a laboratory of their choosing.
