Faculty Senate Executive Committee<\/h2>

The Faculty Senate Executive Committee (FSEC) serves as the steering committee of the Senate, and represents the Senate in meetings with other University bodies and with the Provost, the President, and the URI Board of Trustees.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Research and Creative Activities Committee<\/h2>

Serves as the representative voice of the university community in all matters related to research, creative, and scholarly activities.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Constitution, By-Laws, and University Manual Committee<\/h2>

Reviews the operation of University governance and propose changes in the Constitution and By-Laws of the Faculty Senate and in the University Manual.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

General Education Committee<\/h2>

Studies and makes recommendations on General Education requirements, proposed Gen Ed courses, and overall program evaluation.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Service and Community Life Committee<\/h2>

Studies and recommends policies to enhance effective faculty governance and oversight, diversity and inclusion, and URI’s engagement with the broader community.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Budget and Administration Committee<\/h2>

Monitors administrative policies and makes recommendations on budget model proposals, institutional research initiatives, and other administrative actions affecting faculty and academic freedom<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Technology and Infrastructure Committee<\/h2>

Contributes to the development and maintenance of the strategic plan in collaboration with ITS Reviews, and makes IT-related policy recommendations.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Curriculum and Standards Committee<\/h2>

Considers and makes recommendations to the Faculty Senate on the items specifically assigned to it relating to curriculum and academic standards.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Academic Calendar Committee<\/h2>

Oversees and reviews changes to the University Calendar for fall, winter, spring, and summer session semesters, and for fully-online accelerated programs.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Teaching, Advising, and Assessment Committee<\/h2>

Promotes good teaching, advising, and assessment at the University by conducting and reporting to the Faculty Senate an annual audit of programs, activities, policies.

Centers and Institutes Review Committee <\/h2>

Joint Committee on Academic Program Review and Outcomes Assessment<\/h2>

Develops policies for student learning outcomes assessment, data distribution, and measurement frequency, including ongoing process review and implementation.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Student Rights and Responsibilities<\/h2>

Reviews and recommends modifications of student non-academic regulations and policies for publication in the student handbook.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

University Appeals Board<\/h2>

The University Appeals Board on Student Conduct hears appeals of decisions made by administrative action, administrative hearing, or by hearing panels.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Honorary Degree Committee <\/h2>

Solicits names of people to be considered as candidates for honorary degrees and recommends to the President possible commencement speakers. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

Student Conduct Hearing Board<\/h2>

(Formerly the University Judicial Conduct Board) Hears and adjudicates cases of alleged violations of community standards of behavior or university policies.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Online and Distance Learning<\/h2>

Proposes, examines and recommends institutional policies and practices for developing, planning, evaluating, and implementing online and distance learning offerings.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Classroom Steering<\/h2>

Develops, monitors, and executes plans for classroom planning and management, establishes and updates design standards, and coordinates classroom improvements. <\/p><\/div><\/div>
