Over 7,100 lbs of produce were distributed to URI students this Fall. A huge thank you to the URI farms, farm staff, student team members, volunteers, CHS and CELS who make this program possible! YES, IT’S FREE!!<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The Free Farmers Market (FFM) offers all students access to fresh, locally-grown produce from URI farms.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

10,000 pounds of produce<\/span>shared free to URI students in 2024<\/span><\/div>\n\n

How does it work ? <\/h1>\n\n

It is open to all URI students! <\/strong>There is no<\/strong> proof of income required to participate. If you are a URI undergraduate or graduate student, the program is for YOU!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us in supporting URI’s three-pronged land-grant mission of education, research, and outreach\u2014all with a focus on practical service to support a healthier campus community through fresh, easily accessible, free food for everyone. Each week the three URI farms contribute fresh produce and eggs all harvested and collected less than 1 mile away from campus, less than 24 hours prior to distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harvest is on Wednesdays and produce is distributed on Thursdays on the Quad to serve central campus and Mackel\/Tootell to serve west campus and commuter lots. While supplies last!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aligned with URI’s Land Grant Mission<\/h1>\n\n

Promoting education<\/strong> through awareness of sustainable agriculture, local food systems, healthy eating, food preparation and recipe information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting research<\/strong> by showcasing the output of URI\u2019s farms and integrating student led program evaluation for success, impact and improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fostering outreach<\/strong> by making fresh, local produce accessible to all students, which strengthens community ties and addresses food access and insecurity.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n\n\n\n

When is it?<\/h1>\n\n

THE MARKET SOUTH:<\/strong> THURSDAY: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm (Quad) or while supplies last<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE MARKET WEST:<\/strong> THURSDAY: 2:30 – 4:00 pm (Outside Mackal\/Tootell) or while supplies last<\/p>\n\n\n\n
