The scholarships listed below are for more advanced students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Competitive National Scholarships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"cl-wrapper cl-card-wrapper\"><a class=\"cl-card  \" href=\"https:\/\/www.noaa.gov\/office-education\/hollings-scholarship\" title=\"\"><div class=\"cl-card-container text\"><div class=\"cl-card-text\"><h2>NOAA Ernest Hollings Scholarship<\/h2><p>This nationally competitive, two-year scholarship\u2013which includes a paid summer internship at a NOAA laboratory\u2013is for students with majors in any marine-related discipline and GPA\u2019s greater than 3.0\u00a0who have career intentions that\u00a0relate to NOAA\u2019s mission.<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"cl-card-container button\">learn more<\/div><\/a><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"cl-wrapper cl-card-wrapper\"><a class=\"cl-card  \" href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/fellowships\/endorsed-scholarships\/udall-scholarship\/\" title=\"\"><div class=\"cl-card-container text\"><div class=\"cl-card-text\"><h2>Udall Scholarship<\/h2><p>Awarded to sophomores and juniors for leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to the environment or to American Indian nations ($7,000). <\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"cl-card-container button\">learn more<\/div><\/a><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"cl-wrapper cl-card-wrapper\"><a class=\"cl-card  \" href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/fellowships\/endorsed-scholarships\/goldwater\/\" title=\"\"><div class=\"cl-card-container text\"><div class=\"cl-card-text\"><h2>Goldwater Scholarship<\/h2><p>This scholarship is awarded to sophomores and juniors who have outstanding potential and intend to pursue research careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering (up to $7,500 per year). Announcements are sent out to the URI student body in the spring of each year when the portal will start accepting applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Animal and Veterinary Science Scholarships<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Barbara K. Simmons Memorial Scholarship &#8211; <\/strong>Income from endowment for a scholarship to a student with both financial need and above average academics who is from Aquidneck Island. First preference to a student who is involved in work at the Agricultural Experiment Station in diseases in farm animals.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jean Louise Pimental &#8217;70 Memorial Scholarship<\/strong> &#8211; Income from endowment for a scholarship in Animal Science awarded annually to a deserving student. Preference to an undergraduate female student from Rhode Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>John W. Atwood Memorial Scholarship Endowment<\/strong> &#8211; Income from endowment for a scholarship in Animal Science programs, awarded annually to a junior or senior student based on financial need, academic performance, and interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Aquaculture and Fisheries Science Scholarships<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alexander D. Daunis Memorial Scholarship<\/strong> &#8211; Income from endowment for a scholarship awarded annually to students of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology Program, specializing in Marine Fisheries. Preference to upper class students from the Northeast region (ME-NC) maintaining a 3.00 GPA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lloyd Robert Crandall Memorial Scholarship<\/strong> &#8211; Income from endowment for a scholarship awarded annually to students in Aquaculture &amp; Fishery Technology based on financial need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Steven James Scholarship Fund<\/strong> \u2013 This scholarship will be used to support two incoming freshman student(s) pursuing an undergraduate degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology in the College of the Environment and Life Sciences. The awards will be based on academic merit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wayne King &amp; Bernice Anderson Durfee Aquaculture Merit Fund<\/strong> &#8211; Income from endowment for a $500.00 scholarship in Aquaculture awarded annually, on the basis of merit, to a junior or senior who has been in the program at least one year. A student with special interest in shellfish will have first priority. Up to $1000.00 awarded annually to a graduate student in Aquaculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Scholarships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wdhof.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Women Divers Hall of Fame<\/a><\/strong> (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wdhof.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.wdhof.org<\/a>) is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and raising awareness of the contributions of outstanding women divers. A wide range of scholarships related to divers training and research are offered by the WDHOF.
