Attend one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/fellowships\/calendar\/\">Boren Info Sessions<\/a> or view a recording to determine the opportunity(ies) right for you;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>3.<\/strong> Read the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borenawards.org\/\">Boren website<\/a> so you understand the eligibility and selection criteria;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>4.<\/strong> Schedule a meeting with the Office of International Education to discuss your study abroad program; Schedule a meeting with the Office of Fellowships@URI to discuss your application;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>5<\/strong>. Identify program(s) of interest as well as alternatives:<br> Consider your goals, objectives, housing and educational needs, in-country support, as well as any travel restrictions\/warnings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>6.<\/strong> Start and familiarize yourself with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.borenawards.org\/apply-now\">online application<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7<\/strong>. Send the following items to \u200b\u200bkeegan.scott@uri.edu\u200b\u200b by the official URI Campus Application Deadline \u2013 Monday, January 4, 2027\u200b\u200b:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> Both essays (name as such: Essays_Boren2027_LastName)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> PDF of all college transcripts with fall grades (Transcript_Boren2027_LastName)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Online Application, including Budget and Language Self-Assessment\u200b\u200b<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>8.<\/strong> Send Letters of Recommendation and Language Evaluations to \u200b\u200bkeegan.scott@uri.edu\u200b\u200b by \u200bFriday, January 8, 2027<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> Allow recommenders several weeks of advance notice to write your recommendations:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Explain the goals of the Boren Awards program;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Provide a printout or link to the program you are proposing to attend;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Provide a copy of your transcript and your resume;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Explain the type of federal service you are interested in;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> Explain what your ultimate career aspirations are and how it relates to the Boren.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>9. <\/strong>Campus interviews will happen starting on Monday, January 11th. These will be online or in-person, and will help the committee craft a nomination letter as well as provide application feedback. Once you have received feedback on your essays and application, upload your documents and hit submit on your online application by 11:59 PM ET on Friday, January 22nd, 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Timeline<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There is no such thing as starting too early for the Boren Scholarship and Fellowship! Begin considering how your language goals and career aspirations in government service dovetail.
