Pell Grants<\/h2>

These federally funded grants are awarded to needy students. The amount of your Pell Grant is based on the Student Aid Index (SAI) noted on your Student Aid Report, the cost of attendance, and your enrollment status.

Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants<\/h2>

These grants are for undergraduates with exceptional financial need, that is, students with the lowest Student Aid Index (SAI). Priority is given to students who receive Federal Pell Grants.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

TEACH Grants<\/h2>

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education program provides grants for students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Merit Scholarships<\/h2>

Merit Scholarships are awarded by the URI Admissions Office based\u00a0on a review of your application at the time of enrollment. They include the Presidential Scholarship, University Scholarship, Transfer merit scholarship, Transfer Achievement Scholarship, and Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship.\u00a0

URI awards numerous scholarships each academic year through the fundraising efforts of the URI Foundation, Alumni, and the generosity of private donors.\u00a0

Enrollment Intensity<\/strong>
\u25cf Beginning in the 2024-25 aid year<\/strong>, the Federal Pell Grant will no longer<\/strong> be
calculated using categories such as full-time, half-time, etc. Instead, Pell Grant
disbursement amounts will now be prorated based on the actual number of
credits in which a student is enrolled during the semester. This new process is
called Enrollment Intensity<\/strong>. For federal student aid purposes, full-time
enrollment<\/strong> is 12 credit hours<\/strong>.

Note: Enrollment Intensity cannot exceed 100%<\/strong> for purposes of Pell
