{"id":3886,"date":"2019-04-24T13:04:57","date_gmt":"2019-04-24T17:04:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/global\/?page_id=3886"},"modified":"2019-04-24T13:04:57","modified_gmt":"2019-04-24T17:04:57","slug":"uri-orientation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/global\/international-students\/planning\/uri-orientation\/","title":{"rendered":"URI New Student Orientation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We welcome all international undergraduate students to register for one the URI New Student Orientation sessions that take place in June. <\/p>\n<p>Please note the following visa considerations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are not already in the United States, secure a tourist visit to attend a URI Orientation session in June.<br \/>\nYou will need to exit the US and reenter with the F1\/J1 visa.<\/li>\n<li>If you already have a tourist visa that permits you to remain in the US prior to the start of school, you will still need to exit the US and reenter with the F-1\/J-1 visa.<\/li>\n<li>Unless you planned to enroll for classes (summer session 1 or 2), your student visa (F1\/J1) will not be issued by the US State Department more than 1 month prior to the start of your studies (fall semester).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Typically the New Student Orientation events include an overview of University services and academics, ways to get involved at URI, and registration.<br \/>\nFor more information:<\/p>\n<a class=\"cl-button  \" href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/orientation\/\" title=\"\">URI Orientation<\/a>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We welcome all international undergraduate students to register for one the URI New Student Orientation sessions that take place in June.
