Position Description: 

The Graduate School’s Office of Professional and Community Development provides
professional and career programs and services to 2,000+ in person and online master’s, PhD, and certificate students in all stages of their graduate careers. This support takes the form of programs, workshops, individual advising, online resources, newsletters, a Graduate Writing Center, Equitable & Inclusion Badge Program, Academic Skills Support, and more.
The GTA would develop, create, and lead professional development curriculum and
programs, and help expand and run our new Equitable and Inclusive Teaching &
Pedagogy Badge program. They would update and expand professional development
website resources. They would also help organize and run a graduate student poster
day and conference together with the Director of Professional and Community Development, assist with event planning and logistical issues, and help students improve their job application materials.

A successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Client-oriented, professional, positive attitude and ability to interact respectfully in all interactions with all levels of staff, faculty, students and other constituents
  • Comfort with ambiguity, demonstrated discretion and confidentiality
  • Best practices for diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Interest in graduate career and professional development and community building
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, webpage software such as HTML or Wix and experience contributing to and/or managing website content
  • Fluency with additional tools for design and communications such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
