Once approved, the Office of Human Resources will create the job record for the summer appointments. If the Graduate School receives an appointment letter that is not eligible, they will notify the Department\/College. All other hourly job codes will continue to be handled by the Department\/College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial creation of job records and budget table for Summer Research and Teaching Appointments will be centralized within the Office of Human Resources. All changes after the initial set up are the department\u2019s\/college\u2019s responsibility.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">2026 SUMMER CONTRACTS<\/h2>\n\n\n<a class=\"cl-button   prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/secure.na3.adobesign.com\/public\/esignWidget?wid=CBFCIBAA3AAABLblqZhD_DLX2-7rDnO6his4foDJUDWXYD5seo3oUr_1uLKDFakS8VY5-ZLcyHTLb799m-LA*\" title=\"\">Summer RA Contract<\/a>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<a class=\"cl-button   prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/secure.na3.adobesign.com\/public\/esignWidget?wid=CBFCIBAA3AAABLblqZhCSuCVBDht66jNwmIlh46IoDwDZU52e7YQZR1QGqbo-DypCMDYXISH2lpyG4HOa4Jg*\" title=\"\">Summer TA Contract<\/a>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<a class=\"cl-button   prominent\" href=\"https:\/\/secure.na3.adobesign.com\/public\/esignWidget?wid=CBFCIBAA3AAABLblqZhCeF5qsuQUH9PS3S8W39trzrFebCzgIRncqu6kyIdQjEpQi11Gfts9X99O6xznVtIw*\" title=\"\">Summer TA-Instructor contract<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2026 Summer Contract Deadlines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The deadline for summer contracts that begin on 5\/18\/2026 is April 27, 2026.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Summer contracts beginning after 5\/18\/2026 should be submitted at least one pay period (2 weeks) before the start date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The last acceptable date for summer contracts is July 17, 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Please Note: All contacts must terminate by August 23, 2026.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-tabs-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-tabs  \"><section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Eligibility Criteria<\/h1><\/p>\n<p><strong><i>The summer term begins after the May commencement ceremony and ends a week before the Fall semester begins.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be eligible, students must have held an assistantship appointment during the 2025-2026 academic year (Spring or Fall) as either full-time or half-time, in addition to the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Research Appointments:&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Job assignment is research based<\/li>\n<li>Must work for at least 2 consecutive pay periods<\/li>\n<li>Must be hired for at least 10 hours\/week and not more than 40 hours\/week<\/li>\n<li>Will be paid at the effective Graduate Student hourly rate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teaching as Instructor of Record Appointments:<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul>\n<li>Job assignment is Teaching at least one three (3) credit course for at least one term of summer session<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Teaching Assistant (Not Instructor of Record) Appointments:<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul>\n<li>Job assignment is assisting in a Summer Session term for a minimum of ten (10) hours per week for at least one term of summer session&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>Additional Information:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Union members will be deducted union dues.<\/li>\n<li>There are no fringe benefits beyond those accrued during the academic year assistantship.<\/li>\n<li>Registering for any credit-bearing activity during the summer is not required and there is no tuition remission during the summer term.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/section><section class=\"cl-tab \"><h1>Summer Rates &amp; Dates<\/h1><\/p>\n<div class=\"cl-tiles halves\">\n<div>\n<strong><\/p>\n<h1>2026 Summer Rates<\/h1>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Research Appointments graduate hourly pay rates:<\/strong><br \/>\nLevel I &#8211; $32.16<br \/>\nLevel II &#8211; $33.11<br \/>\nLevel III &#8211; $34.65<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-boxout-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-boxout  \"><h1>2026 Summer Session Dates<\/h1><p><strong>Summer Sessions:<\/strong><br \/>\nSession 1 (5\/18\/26-6\/19\/26, 5 weeks)<br \/>\nSession 2 (6\/22\/26-7\/24\/26, 5 weeks)<br \/>\nSession 3 (5\/18\/26-7\/24\/26, 10 weeks)<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/controller\/payroll\/state\/\"><strong>View In-House Payroll Schedule<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<\/p><\/div><\/section><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Teaching as Instructor of Record Appointments:<\/strong><br \/>\nInstructors of record shall be paid $1,575 per credit hour taught from Summer Session funds, unless it is not a summer session course, for at least one term of summer session.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Teaching Assistant (Not Instructor of Record) Appointments:<\/strong><br \/>\nShall be paid $1,575 ($31.50 hr) per summer term for a ten (10) hour work week from college, department or other non-Summer Session funds.
