Candidates are nominated by their department or program and recipients must be full-time graduate students in good academic standing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholarship Timeline<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>February 1:<\/strong> Call for nominations<\/li>\n<li><strong>March 1:<\/strong> Nominations due<\/li>\n<li><strong>Early April:<\/strong> Scholarship winners announced<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Graduate School scholarships cover individual tuition and 20 percent of graduate student fees.\u00a0 They do not cover health insurance.\u00a0 Students with Graduate School scholarships may work on campus for hourly pay, but students who do so will not be eligible for benefits associated with assistantships.<\/p>\n<p>For further information about scholarships, students should contact their major professors, graduate directors or department chairs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Departments may nominate students for Graduate School tuition scholarships. Find the Nomination Form Here.<\/p>\n<h3>Eligibility and Terms of Scholarships<\/h3>\n<p>Full-time students with a tuition scholarship must carry a minimum of 9 credits per semester. Students holding full or partial graduate teaching or research assistantships during 2018-2019 are not eligible for tuition scholarships.<\/p>\n<h3>Nomination\u00a0Submission Instructions<\/h3>\n<p>Nominations are limited to a maximum of three for each department or degree program that is not affiliated with a department.<\/p>\n<p>To nominate a student, submit all of the required documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/forms\/U9PohnHZ92jG06f22\" target=\"_blank\">Departmental Nomination Form for Graduate Tuition Scholarship<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Two letters of reference<\/strong> and supporting information. Letters may be written by any combination of referees: department chair, director of graduate\u00a0studies, student\u2019s major advisor, or other faculty. Nominees who are not yet matriculated students at URI should submit one letter of support from the department chair or a faculty member.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Undergraduate and graduate transcripts<\/strong> (copied or scanned)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Curriculum vitae<\/strong> (maximum of two pages)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You have the option of sending the required attachments by uploading them to the nomination form, or by sending them via email attachment to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:uri.gradawards@gmail.com\">uri.gradawards@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you choose to send the attachments via email, in the subject line please include the type of award (Tuition Scholarship or Diversity Awards) the student\u2019s last name, first name and ID number.<br \/>\nFor example, \u201cScholarship \u2013 Smith, John \u2013 1002XX349\u201d or \u201cDiversity Awards- Smith, John \u2013 1002XX349\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Please be sure to include all necessary attachments and all back-up documentation that are requested within the nomination form.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Selection Procedure<\/h3>\n<p>Nominees are evaluated based on their academic promise and their merits.
