The guidance emphasizes academic integrity, independent thinking, transparency, and ongoing communication between students, faculty mentors, and committee members. It is designed to support informed decision-making while recognizing that AI expectations may vary across disciplines and research settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, the Graduate School has developed a Thesis and Dissertation AI Usage Agreement<\/strong>, an optional planning tool that enables graduate students, major professors, and committee members to discuss and document expectations for AI use throughout the research process. The agreement includes the URI CYPHER AI Usage Marking System and can help establish shared understanding and clear communication around AI-assisted work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
