Breaking into Science Writing<\/h1>

It’s true that many scientists work in labs, running experiments, trials, and programs. Many publish their findings in scientific journals for others in the science community to read.   <\/p>\n

Did you ever think about bringing your scientific work outside of the lab, outside of your field, and into the public sphere? Science writing is a career path that offers scientists the opportunity to combine their passion for the natural world with a desire to communicate.<\/p>\n

This article, published in Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment (2017), explores the careers of several science writers, and offers a glimpse into this expanding field.<\/p>\n

URI Alumna: Science Communicator<\/h1>

Recent URI alumna Megan Skrip<\/b> is a prime example of someone combining an interest in communication with science and turning it into a career!  <\/p>\n

Megan is a Science Communicator<\/b> for North Carolina State University\u2019s Center for Geospatial Analytics. Her work includes \u201cweb development, social media engagement, writing, and design, working to advance and assess activities that support and highlight the interdisciplinary research and education programs.\u201d<\/p>\n
