Before becoming VP, Alia was her Sisterhood Chair that created activities to help bond her sisters.\u00a0 Being super involved in her chapter, Alia finds the time to extend her involvement with part-time jobs, internships, mentoring, and tons of leadership roles on campus. Alia is involved in Random Acts of Kindness club, eLe@d Leadership Program, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honors Society, Civility Mentoring and was an Orientation Leader last summer. She has learned the true meaning of leadership with all of her involvement experiences. Alia defines leadership as, \u201cmaking a positive impact to organizations and the lives of others.\u201d Her growth as an optimistic leader always continues and she never finishes learning about herself, different cultures, other people, and having new experiences. Because of her involvement, she has learned a lot about organizational skills, time management and personal responsibility. She wants to put her involvement into practice and make this her career. Being passionate about working with students and meeting new people, she loves helping students discover their own potential. Alia is extremely hardworking and plans to attend graduate school and get a masters degree in higher education. More specifically, she wants to get her degree that specializes in college student personnel. She either wants to be a leadership professor or work with new student programs. Alia has loved being apart of Greek Life and found her second home in Chi Omega. \u201cGreek Life has given me the home and support system I needed to adjust in college,\u201d she says. \u201cNot to mention I have the best big sister anyone could ever ask for, Ashton Avila.\u201d She has been nominated Greek of the Week for her continuous community involvement and always being a role model for students on campus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hometown: North Kingstown, RI Year: Class of 2015 Major: Human Development and Family Studies Minor: Leadership Studies ALIA MCADAMS is currently the Vice President of her sorority, Chi Omega.
