GSO community members submit five \u201cOcean Shots\u201d\u2014ambitious, transformational research proposals to fundamentally advance ocean science.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adam Soule<\/strong> is appointed director of the Ocean Exploration Cooperative Institute and joins the GSO community as a Professor of Oceanography.<\/p>\n<p>Dean Bontempi establishes a <strong>JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Committee<\/strong> within the Narragansett Bay Campus community. Volunteers are charged with crafting a charter, developing a strategic plan for JEDI at GSO, and articulating an overall agenda for change.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-150228 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/916\/OTW-Mnth-Feb-e1569438625466.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"80\" height=\"29\"><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>The Student-Alum Networking Series<\/strong> kicks off. The program of virtual talks allows students to hear from alumni about their work and career paths and fosters relationships between students and alumni.<\/p>\n<p>A URI virtual <strong>film screening<\/strong> is held for the documentary film <em>\u201cFrozen Obsession,\u201d<\/em> which follows the 18-day, 2,000-mile Northwest Passage Project expedition through the stunningly beautiful Canadian Arctic Archipelago. The series shares URI\u2019s learning of various aspects of the offshore wind energy (OWE) industry and is a production of R.I.
