The listing is based on bibliometric factors contained in the Scopus database provided by Elsevier, a global information analytics company and academic publisher.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a wonderful honor to see so many members of our URI community included among Stanford\u2019s list of top scientists and researchers,\u201d said URI Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Barbara Wolfe. \u201cTheir scholarship reflects the impact of URI and the exceptional opportunities our students have to learn alongside the best in their fields.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rankings consider scholars who have published multiple highly cited papers and use various metrics to evaluate the citation impact of researchers\u2019 work over their career and a single year. The rankings are based on citations from 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the GSO faculty members recognized are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/gso\/meet\/steven-dhondt\/\">Steven L. D\u2019Hondt<\/a>, interim dean and professor, oceanography<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/gso\/meet\/katherine-kelley\/\">Katherine Kelley<\/a>, professor, oceanography<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/gso\/meet\/rainer-lohmann\/\">Rainer Lohmann<\/a>, professor, oceanography<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This story was written by Kiera Wrage, a senior majoring in public relations at the University of Rhode Island.
