The URI GSO community presented its research at the 2025 American Geophysical Union Annual Meeting.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

January 6, 2025<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

#AGU25, the most influential event in the world dedicated to the advancement of Earth and space sciences, took place December 15\u201319 in New Orleans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each year, AGU\u2019s Annual Meeting brings together more than 25,000 attendees from over 100 countries to share research, exchange ideas, and build connections across disciplines. Researchers, scientists, educators, students, policymakers, journalists, communicators, and science enthusiasts gather to deepen our understanding of Earth systems, and the role science plays in shaping our planet\u2019s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the week, members of the GSO community presented their work, connected with collaborators, and contributed to conversations spanning oceanography, climate, geophysics, and beyond. GSO also maintained a booth in the AGU Exhibition Hall, where staff connected with prospective students and engaged with affiliates across the oceanographic science and related industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, two GSO staff members, Holly Morin and Kenna Rubin, participated in tours of the NSF Regional Class Research Vessels (RCRVs) at Bollinger Shipyards in Houma, Louisiana. The visit offered an inside look at the ships under construction, including our own world-class RV Narragansett Dawn<\/em>, and the future research capabilities they will support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community members, alumni, and friends also joined Interim Dean Steve D\u2019Hondt for a GSO reception on Tuesday, December 16, at Bryant Park NOLA, providing an opportunity to reconnect and celebrate the breadth of GSO research and partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
