The senior journalism major and communication studies minor currently works with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc6.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ABC6\/WLNE-TV<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as the nightside assignment editor after starting out as a news intern.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At ABC6\/WLNE-TV, Hollingworth writes web stories, edits reporters\u2019 packages on Adobe Premiere, and helps producers write scripts for newscasts\u2019 anchors. He also shadowed journalists in the field to see how they actively composed a news story.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hollingworth credits professor John Pantalone\u2019s JOR 410 (Ethics in Journalism) course for preparing him for the certain ethical decisions that need to be made on a daily basis by reporters, and Professor Kendall Moore\u2019s JOR 330 (Television News) course for preparing him for what to expect in a TV newsroom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThrough my internship, I learned that there is so much to learn in journalism that can\u2019t be taught in a classroom,\u201d Hollingworth said. \u201cEvery day is different for a reporter so you can\u2019t have expectations when you come to work, and you need to be prepared for whatever story is thrown your way.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After graduation, Hollingworth will continue working full-time for ABC6\/WLNE-TV as the nightside assignment editor. For future journalists and those who want to get into the world of broadcast journalism, Hollingworth\u2019s advice is simple &#8211; use the technology provided by the Harrington School.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cTake advantage of the resources the Harrington School provides and will continue to provide in the future with the new broadcast studio in Chafee,\u201d Hollingworth said. \u201cRanger Hall now features state-of-the-art technology that some radio and TV stations in Rhode Island don\u2019t even have.
