Stephen Adler delivers URI\u2019s 10th<\/sup> Amanpour Lecture, “Transparency in News Reporting” on Oct. 4<\/p>\n

Reuters Editor-in-Chief Stephen Adler will discuss the need for greater transparency in news reporting and the importance of professional journalism that is both intrepid and unbiased in a conversation with URI\u2019s Journalism Chair John Pantalone. Adler is responsible for the team that produces the news \u2013 text, photographs, video, insight and commentary \u2013 that powers the world\u2019s markets and media, reaching over one billion users a day.<\/p>\n

Adler joined Thomson Reuters in 2010 as Senior Vice President and Editorial Director of the company\u2019s Professional Division. He was named Editor-in-Chief, Reuters News, in 2011. Under Adler\u2019s leadership, Reuters has received scores of top journalism awards around the world, including Reuters first-ever Pulitzer Prize for text reporting in 2014 and a 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography.<\/p>\n

Before joining Thomson Reuters, Adler was Editor-in-Chief of BusinessWeek, where, during his five-year tenure, the magazine and its website won more than 100 major journalism awards. Earlier, he spent sixteen years at The Wall Street Journal, managing reporting teams that won three Pulitzer Prizes.<\/p>\n

Adler serves on the boards of the Thomson Reuters Foundation and the Committee to Protect Journalists, on the executive committee for the board of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and serves as chairman of Columbia Journalism Review\u2019s Board of Overseers. He is also a member of the International Media Council of the World Economic Forum, the Council on Foreign Relations and the Gerald R. Loeb Awards board of final judges.<\/p>\n
