(By the end of this project, what do you hope to have learned?)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Outline procedures<\/strong> to be followed such as lab, studio, or field work, library research, interviews, etc., emphasizing aspects of the project that will be your own original work. (What do you plan to do to meet your learning outcomes?)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Identify resources<\/strong> required to do the projects. How will you acquire them? Where are they available at URI? What funding, if any, will you require?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Detail your preparation<\/strong> to do the proposed work. This might include prior courses or experiences, accomplishments, character traits, etc. (What do you bring to this experience that will enhance the chance for success in meeting your learning outcomes?)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Identify deliverables<\/strong> that will be the outcome of your project. (The showcase presentation is <em>not<\/em> considered the deliverable.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Discuss the value of the project<\/strong> to you and your future academic\/career goals\/plans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>STEP 2: After you have discussed your written proposal with your sponsor, and they agree that it is ready for submission, ask them to complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1731\/Sponsor-Statement-1.pdf\">Faculty Sponsor Form<\/a>. Once completed and signed by your sponsor, submit this <em>along with your proposal<\/em> via the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfAs2SLN__eMR-XTfcyuHsRkbg47reowMME7NRVEe4KoRu29A\/viewform?usp=sf_link\">Honors Project Application Portal<\/a>. Proposals will only be reviewed if they are accompanied by the sponsor\u2019s completed and signed form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Registration for the Honors Project courses, both HPR 401 and HPR 402, occur by permission number only. Deadlines are based on your graduation date and are indicated on the form.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-boxout-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-boxout  \"><h1>Does your project include human subjects? <\/h1>\n\n<p>Safeguarding the rights and welfare of subjects involved in any research, development, or related activity is the responsibility of the University. <strong>All research activity involving human or animal subjects must be reviewed and approved by the University Institutional Review Board (IRB). <\/strong>Find out everything you need to know and how it relates to your research project on their <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/research-admin\/office-of-research-integrity\/human-subjects-protections\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/research-admin\/office-of-research-integrity\/human-subjects-protections\/\">site<\/a>, or email them at <a href=\"mailto:researchintegrity@etal.uri.edu\">researchintegrity@etal.uri.edu<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n<section class=\"cl-wrapper cl-boxout-wrapper\"><div class=\"cl-boxout  \"><h1>Funding Your Project<\/h1><p>Each year, the Office of Undergraduate Research in conjunction with the Office of the Provost make available on a competitive basis <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/undergraduate-research\/funding\/\">Undergraduate Research Awards<\/a> to defray costs incurred in undergraduate research and creative work. Discuss this with your sponsor and watch for the call for proposals around the middle of each semester.
