P\u00ebrsh\u00ebndetje! I\u2019m Anxhelika Deda, a freshman majoring in Journalism with minors in Business of Digital Media, Justice, Law and Society, and Leadership Studies. As an Albanian immigrant, I hold Seals of Biliteracy in Albanian and Spanish, helping me connect with diverse communities. I love writing poetry, working out, creating community news segments, volunteering, and spending time at the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At URI, I serve on the Honors Student Curriculum Advisory Committee, contribute articles for the Honors website and\u00a0Points of Pride<\/em>\u00a0page, and am a Contributing Reporter for the\u00a0Good 5 Cent Cigar<\/em>. I\u2019m especially passionate about the intersection of digital safety, media literacy, and youth mental health. As a LookUp.Live Innovator Grant recipient, I\u2019m currently developing a series of video\u2011based resources to support youth who have experienced cyberbullying and help them navigate social media with confidence. I also serve on the Youth Advisory Councils for the\u00a0National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) and The Goodness Web. As a Core Storyteller with #HalfTheStory, I create content that empowers teens to build healthier relationships with technology. Additionally, I tutor elementary students through Teach For America Ignite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In high school, I was President of Interact Club, Production Manager of Blue Eagle News, a DECA International Finalist, and published in the\u00a0Hartford Courant<\/em>. I dedicated 500+ hours to community service, taught elementary students through the Keane Foundation, and supported student-led mental wellness initiatives at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
