Resident Assistant \u2013 2026\u20132027 Academic Year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Reporting to a Hall Director (HD) or Graduate Hall Director (GHD), the Resident Assistant (RA) helps create and sustain a civil, respectful, inclusive, and healthy residential community through programming, mentoring, referral guidance, mediation, on-call duty coverage, and enforcement of the University Handbook and the Housing Agreement and Addendum. Under the direction of a HD or GHD, RAs work in a team dynamic to foster academic, social, and developmental success of all assigned residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summary of Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • Serve as a student leader and responsible community member capable of sound judgment and good decision-making at all times by being a positive role model and following all University policies and local, state, and federal laws.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Promote community development through intentional programming and student engagement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Be approachable and available to members of the community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Proactively and reactively resolve conflict, enforce policy, and enact departmental protocols and procedures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Care for others and oneself in a responsible manner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Communicate and engage with others in a professional, respectful, and culturally competent manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Position Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • Be a full-time undergraduate student at the University of Rhode Island during the period of employment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Maintain a minimum cumulative and semester grade point average of 2.30 during the entire period of employment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Must be in good standing with the Office of Community Standards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Staff are not allowed to work another University-funded, on-campus job. The RA position is a significant commitment and comes second only to an RA\u2019s academic obligations. Extracurricular activities should be limited and must not conflict with the time needed to perform effectively as an RA throughout the year. Assuming additional leadership positions or off-campus employment must be approved by the supervisor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Work an average of twenty (20) hours per week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Weekend, evening, and break period work hours are expected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • All requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Compensation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      • Provided a fully furnished, single room in hall
        Room Waiver for AY 25\u201326: $4,673 per semester<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • TBD for AY 26\u201327<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • $5,700 Stipend (2025\u20132026), biweekly paycheck divided over 36 weeks
        Stipend is taxed<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Meal Plan is required
        Meal Plan not included in compensation<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
