She will draw connections between suffrage organizing in the U.S. and in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr.&nbsp;McIntyre specializes in gender, religion, and Indigenous&nbsp;peoples in Latin America.&nbsp;Her book,&nbsp;<em>Protestantism and State Formation in Postrevolutionary Oaxaca(2019)<\/em>, examines religious conflict and traditional governance in Native communities of southern Mexico. Her current research examines missionary women and transnational activism in 1920s and 1930s Latin America. She teaches Gender and Women\u2019s Studies courses including \u201cGender and Sexuality in Latin America\u201d, \u201cInternational Women\u2019s Issues\u201d, and honors courses such as \u201cBeauty, Body, Power\u201d and \u201cGive me Suffrage: Voting Rights in the Americas.\u201d As the Associate Director of URI\u2019s Honors Program, she is the coordinator of student research projects. A former American Association of University Women fellow, she participated in the 2018 National Endowment for the Humanities \u201cWomen\u2019s Suffrage in the Americas\u201d Summer Institute.
