{"id":11847,"date":"2025-04-25T00:15:53","date_gmt":"2025-04-25T00:15:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/humanities\/?p=11847"},"modified":"2025-05-14T15:04:46","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T15:04:46","slug":"plays-in-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/humanities\/plays-in-place\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Plays in Place&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Over the course of the next year, Rachel Walshe has three projects that require\u00a0an intersection of performance and research.\u00a0<em>Plays in Place\u00a0<\/em>demands deep engagement with the history of Hunter House in Newport and its formative role in the Revolutionary War.\u00a0<em>Machinal: Ballet\u00a0<\/em>will require researching and activating the Jazz Age and the role of women in early 1920s America.\u00a0<em>The English Understand Wool\u00a0<\/em>is an exciting and unique dramaturgical challenge requiring bringing a contemporary novella to life onstage. The novella ranges across several continents, cultures, and languages.
