Pérez-Ibáñez will travel to Pamplona, Spain, to study a newly discovered seventeenth-century court ruling (Archivo General de Navarra, signature ES/NA/AGN/F036/164769). The ruling details the company’s failure to fulfill a performance contract with the city of Bilbao during a bubonic plague outbreak, addressing contested wages, contractual penalties, and expenses related to the construction of a temporary playhouse. By completing a close study of this case, the project will shed light on the connections between gender, financial risk, and theatrical practice in Spain’s Golden Age.

Archivo General de Navarra

Faculty Research Grant
Iñaki Pérez-Ibáñez (Modern & Classical Languages & Literatures)

[297

post-12109","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-f25grants
["GET
