The Biodex is also adaptable to provide controlled exercises for all the large joints in the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>12 Lead ECG<\/strong>: 2 GE ECG monitors are used diagnose and&nbsp;assess cardiovascular health and cardiac conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Balance Tester<\/strong>: The Biosway balance system is a portable balance-testing unit used to assess and train balance, ID fall risk and track recovery from a concussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"271\" src=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1273\/KIN-banner-e1457033551583-300x271.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/kinesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1273\/KIN-banner-e1457033551583-300x271.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/kinesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1273\/KIN-banner-e1457033551583-166x150.jpg 166w, https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/kinesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1273\/KIN-banner-e1457033551583-80x72.jpg 80w, https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/kinesiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1273\/KIN-banner-e1457033551583.jpg 532w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wireless EMG &amp; Inertial Motion Units<\/strong>: Tringo wireless EMG system is used to record muscle activity during exercise in order to provide biofeedback that can be used to improve exercise technique and prescription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Near Infrared Spectrometer<\/strong>: The OxiplexTS near infrared spectrometer uses light pulses to measure blood flow and oxygen consumption of human muscles, tendon and nerves during exercise and rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lactate Meters<\/strong>: 5 Lactate Plus blood lactate meters are used to measure blood lactate during and after exercise taken from a small finger or ear prick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Physiology Teaching Kits<\/strong>: 5 iWorx physiology teaching kits are used to teach students basic cardiovascular, cardiopulmonary and neuromuscular concepts using hands on lab exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other Equipment<\/strong>: Trackmaster treadmills (2), Wingate cycle ergometers (2), Corival power cycle, Polar heart rate monitors, teaching blood pressure cuffs, Gulick tape measures, stadiometers &amp; scales &amp; more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the human performance laboratory students will use state of the art technology to perform a wide variety of physiological and human performance tests including ECG, metabolic, VO2 max, lactate, balance, strength, and muscle function testing.
