Through a combination of scientific coursework, applied coaching experience, and professional development, graduates are equipped to enhance athletic performance, reduce injury risk, and promote lifelong fitness across diverse athletic populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Goals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Deliver an evidence-based and CASCE-aligned Scientific Curriculum: Provide students with foundational and advanced knowledge in exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and strength and conditioning principles aligned with CASCE standards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop Applied Coaching Competency: Ensure students gain hands-on experience through supervised fieldwork and internships in collegiate, high school, private, or tactical strength and conditioning settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare Students for Professional Certification: Prepare graduates to sit for the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist exam by aligning coursework and practicum experiences with exam competencies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Foster Evidence-Based Practice and Ethical Leadership: Encourage students to apply scientific research and ethical decision-making in designing and delivering strength and conditioning programs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support Career Readiness and Professionalism: Build student competencies in communication, leadership, and professional behavior necessary for effective practice in the strength and conditioning profession<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Strength and Conditioning Concentration Mission and Goals Mission The Strength and Conditioning (S&amp;C) concentration within the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Rhode Island prepares students to become evidence-based and effective strength and conditioning professionals.
