Many of the Western world\u2019s most important works of philosophy, literature, music, art history, and medicine are written in German. The interdisciplinary and inclusive German curriculum that was co-developed by award-winning URI faculty members has been adopted by over 100 universities in the US. Our German major and minor can be combined with any major and can be tailored toward the unique needs of each discipline. This will help you achieve a high level of language proficiency and intercultural competence, in order to become a true global professional in your field.<\/p>\n<h4>No German? No Problem.<\/h4>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;ve studied German a lot, a little, or not at all before you come to URI. In fact, the vast majority of our majors come to us with no German background. What matters is that when you graduate, you&#8217;ll be well prepared for the future.<\/p>\n<h3>Careers<\/h3>\n<p>Thinking about what learning German does for your earning potential? Consider this: Germany is the world\u2019s second-largest exporter, and the German economy ranks number one in Europe and number four worldwide. Germany is home to numerous international corporations, and direct investment by Germany in the United States is over ten billion dollars. Our program and professors will work closely with you to reach your career goals and support you in your internship and career preparation, whether in the US or abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Graduating German <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/engineering\/academics\/iep\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Engineering Program (IEP)<\/a>, German <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/business\/international-business-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Business Program (IBP)<\/a>, and German <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cs.uri.edu\/academics\/undergraduate-studies\/international-computer-science-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Computer Science Program (ICSP)<\/a> students have started careers in German companies in the US, American subsidiaries abroad or other companies with a global footprint, such as BASF, BMW of North America, Boeing, Hexagon Intelligent Manufacturing, Mercedes of North America, MTU Aero Engines, Sandia National Laboratories, Siemens, VW, ZF and more. These URI Signature International Programs also give you a competitive edge with respect to getting into top level graduate programs. Grads have gone on to masters, MBA and Phd programs at Brown, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Stanford, Virginia Tech and others.
