We are very proud to announce the winners for our 4th Annual URI Arabic Calligraphy Contest.  Students from all levels of Arabic worked hard to create original art demonstrating the beauty of Arabic language and writing styles.<\/p>\n

Arabic calligraphy as an art form has been developed and perfected for more than 1,500 years and is well known for its fusion of writing with geometric patterns and animal shapes.<\/p>\n

At URI, students can major in Arabic through the Global Language and Area Studies (GLAS) major Arabic track. Additionally, students can combine their major through the International Studies and Diplomacy (ISD) dual-degree program.<\/p>\n

The Arabic program is an outstanding educational experience at URI. It provides students with practical language skills, fun class activities, a close-knit learning community, and the confidence to use your language in the real world. Embarking on one of the greatest adventures of your life is no farther away than enrolling in ARB 111. Sarah Batista is a junior majoring in Criminology and Criminal Justice.  Sarah\u2019s entry shows the word \u0628\u0637 duck<\/i> in the shape of a duck.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Julia Al-Amir<\/strong>

Julia Al-Amir is a junior majoring in Human Development and Family Science. Her art represents a pulse on the Syrian flag with the words My heart beats for Syria \u0642\u0644\u0628\u064a \u064a\u062f\u0642 \u0644\u0633\u0648\u0631\u064a\u0627 .<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
