CHAMP translates high-resolution storm surge, wind, and flood model outputs into decision support for emergency managers during hurricanes and nor\u2019easters. Active deployments span Rhode Island, Connecticut, and federal partners including the U.S. Coast Guard.&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.richamp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">richamp.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Natural Hazards Tools Collaborative<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A partnership between Rhode Island Sea Grant, URI, and Brown University that develops and maintains decision-support tools for emergency managers, planners, and municipalities across Rhode Island. Dr. Becker serves as a co-lead for the collaborative.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/seagrant.gso.uri.edu\/natural-hazards-tools-collaborative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seagrant.gso.uri.edu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3CRS: Community-Driven Coastal Climate Research and Solutions Hub<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>An NSF-funded initiative working with working waterfront communities in Rhode Island and Maine to co-develop climate resilience research, tools, and planning capacity. MACRL contributes storm modeling and decision-support expertise as part of the broader URI team.&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.3crs.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">3crs.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Graduate Certificate in Coastal Resilience<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A URI graduate certificate program developed and directed by Prof. Becker, designed for working professionals in planning, emergency management, and related fields.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/maf\/academics\/graduate-certificate-in-coastal-resilience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">URI Marine Affairs<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Institutional Partners<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">URI Environmental Data Center<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The EDC provides GIS, data management, and spatial analysis support across MACRL projects.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edc.uri.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">edc.uri.edu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rhode Island Sea Grant<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A federal-state partnership supporting coastal research, education, and outreach. RI Sea Grant is a key partner for outreach and engagement across MACRL\u2019s decision-support and resilience projects.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/seagrant.gso.uri.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seagrant.gso.uri.edu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Collaborators<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dr. Peter Stempel (Penn State University)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Stempel integrates qualitative data and social science methods with numerical storm models, providing the technical glue to CHAMP\u2019s forecasting and decision-support work.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/arts.psu.edu\/directory\/peter-stempel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Faculty page<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dr. Reza Hashemi (URI Graduate School of Oceanography)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Hashemi is an Associate Professor of Ocean Engineering whose work spans coastal flooding, storm surge, and wave modeling using tools including ADCIRC, ROMS, and SWAN. He leads the hydrodynamic modeling component of the CHAMP storm modeling team.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/gso\/meet\/m-reza-hashemi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Faculty page<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dr. Isaac Ginis (URI Graduate School of Oceanography)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Isaac leads URI\u2019s Hurricane Research Lab, where his group develops coupled ocean-atmosphere models used operationally by the National Hurricane Center.
