Over his twelve years on active duty, he gained frontline leadership and communication skills while inspiring diverse groups of people to achieve goals in high-stress environments. He specialized in afloat operations conducting search and rescue, fisheries enforcement, migrant interdiction, counter-drug, and defense. These missions were conducted throughout the Caribbean, Eastern Pacific, and Persian Gulf. Most notably, Colin served as the commanding officer of two Coast Guard cutters: USCGC PIKE in San Francisco, CA, and USCGC MARGARET NORVELL in Miami, FL. Throughout his career, he assisted over 1,300 mariners in distress and cared for over 1,000 migrants at sea. Colin was selected as the sole candidate for the 2024 United States Coast Guard Marine Affairs postgraduate program to attend the University of Rhode Island. He intends to enhance his knowledge of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and expand his network with professionals in the field, at the University of Rhode Island. After graduation, Colin will use his master’s degree to develop policy and manage domestic and IUU fisheries enforcement at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC.

[2

post-12688","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-alumni
["GET
