Calianos was invited to present her research at the Connecticut Maritime Association\u2019s (CMA) 2017 annual conference and trade show\u00a0in a session on &#8220;Student Research Presentations on the Business of Shipping&#8221;. The Connecticut Maritime Association, Inc. is an association of individuals representing every aspect of shipping and international trade, both ship and cargo interests, and is a not-for-profit organization with an educational mission. Calianos summarized her research in her paper entitled, &#8220;Impending Ballast Water Management Regulations: An analysis of their implications for the international shipping community,&#8221; which was selected as the first place winner of the\u00a0Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA)\u00a0and the\u00a0CMA\u00a0Education Foundation&#8217;s student research competition.
