Rose Weaver’s

Black Women Taking Off the Masks

Inspired by Paul Lawrence Dunbar’s poem, “We Wear the Mask,” Rose Weaver’s Black Women Taking Off the Masks is a new play/work-in-progress.

This work explores her feeling that many American Black women wrestle with knowing the “real thing” kind of love, and also explores her belief that African American women wear masks when it comes to showing genuine feelings and true self, for fear of not being accepted in American society.

Stage Reading: March 22nd, 6:00-9:00pm Readings and Q and A of scenes from plays and/or scripts in development by Rose Weaver and Vatic Kuumba
