Research

Alexa is a member of the STRESS Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Nicole Weiss. Alexa’s research focuses on emotion dysregulation as a transdiagnostic risk and maintenance factor for trauma-related psychopathology (e.g., posttraumatic stress) and health-risk behaviors (e.g., self-injury, suicide, substance use). Specifically, she is interested in utilizing real-time data collection methods (e.g., ecological momentary assessment) to better understand how these processes relate temporally, with the aim of improving assessment and intervention efforts among marginalized populations
