Charlestown Schoolhouse Garden

4417 Old Post Road | Charlestown, RI 02813

This sustainable garden, which is only watered by rainfall, is a mix of trees, herbs, bulbs, and many perennials. This Cottage Garden design and plant selection is mindful of the garden’s location along the migration path of the Monarch Butterfly. Never without color or interest, this garden cheerfully greets people arriving at the Schoolhouse, Museum, and Cross Mills Library. Situated and protected by the old stone wall at the historic one room schoolhouse, it is close to the sea and enjoys 3 long seasons of bloom.
