House of Hope

69 Fair Street | Warwick, RI 02888

This garden project is part of an ongoing partnership between the House of Hope CDC and the URI Master Gardeners. This produce donation and demonstration garden is located at House of Hope’s newest permanent supportive housing unit in Warwick and serves clients living at the garden site and at other nearby House of Hope facilities. The purpose of the garden is to encourage residents to think about sustainable growing practices, learn new gardening and healthy food preparation skills, and cultivate positive relationships with the community.

Volunteers and House of Hope clients grow vegetables, herbs, and ornamental plants at the garden. All of the produce grown is donated to House of Hope clients and local food banks. This project emphasizes ecologically sensitive practices including plant nutrition and cultivation, care for the soil, recycling of materials and nutrients, and food safety. The garden is used to host workshops and demonstrations for House of Hope clients and the local community.
