Writing and the Creative Process in Bilingual América

Join us for the last of a month-long series of events in celebration of Hispanic and Latino/x Heritage Month. The Department of Modern Languages, in coordination with the Dean of College of Arts & Sciences, the Department of Anthropology/Sociology, the Center for Humanities, the Office of Community, Equity and Diversity, and the Multicultural Student Services Center, have invited Distinguished Professor, poet, and author Miguel Gomes from the University of Connecticut to URI to read his original short stories in Spanish [printed English translations will be provided in a pamphlet and onscreen]. Professor Gomes will also talk about his experiences as a Venezuelan intellectual living and working in the USA (Light hors d’oeuvres, beverages, desserts, and coffee to be served before and after the event). Sponsored by the Center for the Humanities and the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures.
