As a general assignment reporter, she has covered everything from election security to the first female Eagle Scouts, while focusing on science and environment stories including the effects of climate change on her low-lying state. Schmidt previously worked on NPR\u2019s Weekend Edition in Washington, DC, where she produced politics, science and culture interviews, and contributed to Gracie Award-winning coverage of the #MeToo Movement. She has also written for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Berkshire Eagle<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in Pittsfield, MA. Schmidt graduated from Williams College with a BA degree in environmental policy and biology.
