2022 CDP Fall Workshop: Creating Your Individual Development Plan

The Career Development Program<\/strong> (CDP) is designed to facilitate workforce development among Rhode Island researchers through a partnership between Metcalf Institute and the Rhode Island Consortium for Coastal Ecology, Assessment, Innovation & Modeling<\/a> (RI C-AIM), supported by Rhode Island National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. The CDP helps RI C-AIM students, faculty, and staff improve communication and professional skills through training and resources in topics typically absent from formal STEM degree programs. The CDP also fosters interactions across RI C-AIM partner institutions.<\/p>\n

The program is open to Rhode Island\u2019s senior level undergraduates, graduate students and post-doctoral scholars in STEM fields. <\/p>\n

This session satisfies a CDP Certificate requirement.<\/i><\/p>\n

Creating an Individual Development Plan, or IDP, allows you to set professional development and career planning goals and puts in place an action plan to complete those goals. In generating a unique and \u201cindividualized\u201d professional development plan, you will take into account your strengths, interests, and values, while considering what qualifications and skills are necessary for success in your chosen career. Participants must complete an IDP prior to this session (see link below). <\/p>\n

Ms. Mitnick, director of professional development for the URI Graduate School, will help participants interpret their IDP results and develop strategies to leverage individual strengths and resources with the goal of exploring career goals more deeply. <\/p>\n
