Graduate Teacher Certification Program (TCP)

The graduate teacher certification program is taken at the graduate level, in conjunction with the music education specialization in the Master of Music degree. It presumes that candidates have completed the equivalent of the URI Bachelor of Music degree program with courses in music theory, form and analysis, music history, performance, and vocal and/or instrumental ensembles. Additional course requirements include:

Piano proficiency examination
Students pursuing their graduate teacher certification must also apply for admission to the Office of Teacher Education in the School of Education.
