Your degree also requires participation in ensembles that focus on jazz or classical repertoire. Regardless of your chosen genre for lessons, you can audition for both classical and jazz ensembles (e.g., Amplified Vocalists can audition for Concert Choir, and Classical Vocalists can audition for jazz choir).<br \/>\nChoose the genre that best fits your experience and academic goals, and follow the audition requirements below.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\"><b>&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\"><b>Amplified Voice,&nbsp;<\/b><b>Jazz or Contemporary Music styles<\/b>:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">&nbsp;Sing major scale (unaccompanied, eighth notes, in any key using either solfege or&nbsp; &nbsp;neutral syllables)<\/span><\/li>\n<li>&nbsp;Rhythmic and melodic sight reading<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">&nbsp;Prepare 2 contrasting pieces from memory:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Jazz Composition: Please sing 1 of the compositions below in a proper key for your particular vocal range. You should sing the song through twice: once as written, and a second time interpreting melody (with some changes to original or rhythm show your own interpretation.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Bye Bye Blackbird by Ray Henderson and Mort Dixon<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Centerpiece by Harry Edison and Jon Hendricks<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">It Could Happen to You by Johnny Burke and Jimmy Van Heusen<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Night and Day by Cole Porter<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Corcovado by Ant\u00f4nio Carlos Jobim<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">One contrasting piece that shows the style of music you&#8217;re most comfortable with.
