All new students starting in the fall are encouraged to attend one session of Summer Orientation to meet other new students, finalize course schedules, get IDs, and learn more about campus. Families and supporters will also be able to register for their own concurrent orientation program. We look forward to meeting you! Sensory Pathway Focused (SPF) Opt-In Experience<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \"><strong>Students can select this Orientation experience on their registration form.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">Sensory Pathway Focused (SPF) is an opt-in experience at Orientation designed to help you &#8220;protect your energy&#8221;\u2014just like sunscreen protects you at the beach\u2014with smaller groups, a slower pace, and lower noise levels for a more comfortable environment. <strong>Students who opt in still participate in all orientation activities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \"><em>SPF has been created to support students who may feel overwhelmed by large crowds, loud environments, or fast-paced programming. It provides a smaller-group, lower-sensory experience while maintaining full access to orientation content, community-building, and campus resources.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading fullwidth\">Families and Supporters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth\"><strong>Learn more about supporting your student&#8217;s transition to URI and setting them up for success.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">Attend your own 2-day orientation to familiarize yourself with the URI community, tour campus, experience our dining halls, and attend sessions about campus resources and how to best encourage, guide, and empower your Rhody Ram as they make URI their new home away from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth \">You must register separately for Family and Supporter Orientation. Cost is $60 for each guest over the age of 12 and covers meals and materials (overnight accommodations are not included).&nbsp;Financial assistance is available.
