The program ends at 3 p.m. on the second day of your Orientation session. Students must stay with the program until Orientation ends on the second day. You will be walking to various locations on campus. Please dress comfortably and come prepared for inclement weather.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth\">If you need to submit an early departure request, you can do so by <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.uri.edu\/apply\/form?id=451f7b3d-1c96-43c1-a758-7d46b424aa9f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filling out this form<\/a>. All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted 48 hours prior to your scheduled session. Enter campus from Upper College Road and follow the \u201cEarly Arrival&#8221; signs to Barlow and Weldin Halls.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Academic Advising: What is it?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth\">New Student Orientation will be your first opportunity to meet with a professional academic advisor to go over the curriculum, learn about your major, and receive one-on-one academic counseling. You will also meet with current students in your major. <strong>Please remember to complete your <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/newram\/checklists\/first-year-checklist\/#advising\">Advising Form<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.math.uri.edu\/placement\/\">Math Placement Exam<\/a> before attending Orientation<\/strong>, so that your advisor can place you in the most appropriate courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disability, Access, and Inclusion (DAI)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth\">URI\u2019s Disability Access and Inclusion office (DAI) works with undergraduate and graduate students who identify as having a disability and\/or chronic health condition, to secure reasonable accommodations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list fullwidth\">\n<li>If applicable, complete the <a href=\"http:\/\/uri.edu\/disability\/intake\">online intake form<\/a> and book a confidential information session for <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/disability\/new\/\">new students<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit your documentation according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/disability\/current\/documentation\/\">documentation guidelines<\/a> on the DAI website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Honors Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"fullwidth\">At Orientation, you\u2019ll learn about the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/honors\/\">URI Honors Program<\/a>. The program is a community of engaged learners who are passionate about contributing to positive change and sustainable solutions within our communities and the broader world.
