About:

I am a Gender & Women Studies professor at URI. I am involved in the movement against sex trafficking all around the world. I received the first grants from the U.S. government to study sex trafficking in the U.S. and Ukraine. Last year, I won a University of Rhode Island Research and Scholarship Award. In December of 2010, I was the recipient of the Josephine Butler Award for Policy from the Norma Hotaling Awards given out by the Global Centurion organization. I have also been invited to the White House on several occasions to witness the signing of anti-trafficking legislation. I am interested in this training because I want to apply the principles of Kingian nonviolence to end sexual violence.
