He holds degrees from the University of Mobile (BA),<br>Mercer University (Master of Divinity), and Auburn University (PhD, history). He is<br>the author of\u00a0William Owen Carver\u2019s Controversies in the Baptist South\u00a0(Mercer<br>University) and co-author of\u00a0Living Democracy: Students as Citizens, Communities as<br>Classrooms\u00a0(Kettering Foundation Press).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wilson has served as secretary of the Alabama Historical Association since 2007. He<br>has taught community engagement and practicum courses at Auburn University,<br>and in 2018, he was voted by students at Auburn University to deliver the \u201cFinal<br>Lecture.\u201d Wilson has coordinated contracts and grants with the National<br>Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, Appalachian<br>Regional Commission, Kettering Foundation, David Mathews Center for Civic Life,<br>Alabama Humanities Foundation, and others.
