Kenneth R. Sicard, O.P., Ph.D., announced today that he has named Dr. Quincy A. Bevely, Sr. as PC\u2019s inaugural vice president for institutional diversity, equity and inclusion.&nbsp; Dr. Bevely, currently the assistant vice president for institutional diversity, equity and inclusion, will assume this new role on July 17th&nbsp;of this year and will be a member of the Cabinet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bevely joined Providence College in July 2016 as assistant dean of students and director of cultural education in the Student Affairs Division. He was promoted to the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as assistant vice president and Title VI coordinator in March 2019. Bevely is also co-director of the Dialogue, Inclusion and Democracy (D.I.D.) Lab, and an adjunct faculty member at PC. Beverly has taught courses in PC\u2019s Development of Western Civilization program, in the Global Studies major, in Public and Community Service Studies and Elementary\/Special Education, in the School of Continuing Education and in the College\u2019s Master\u2019s degree in Higher Education program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am confident that Quincy is the right choice to lead our DEI efforts going forward. He knows our institution well, and he has established important and substantive relationships with many of our students, faculty and staff. He has a strong vision as to how we can move PC forward on DEI matters which aligns with my own thinking on these issues,\u201d President Sicard said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A native of Chicago, Bevely earned both his undergraduate degree in Psychology (2010) and a Master\u2019s degree in Adult and Higher Education (2012) from Northern Illinois University.&nbsp; He also earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Counseling and Student Development from Kansas State University (2021).&nbsp; He is a member of the National Association for Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE). He is an accredited senior diversity officers through earning certification in NADOHE\u2019s Standards of Professional Practice Institute (SPPI) for Chief Diversity Officers.&nbsp; In addition, Beverly has represented the College in the Inclusive Leadership Program of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the Consortium for High Achievement and Success, and at the Senior Diversity Officers meeting for the annual American Catholic Colleges and Universities organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bevely and his colleague, Dr. Nicholas V.
