She serves as an<br>Adjunct Professor of Communication Studies, a Consultant for the Speaking Center, and a<br>meditation facilitator for the URiMindful group. Additionally, she teaches yoga on the URI<br>campus. However, her contributions to peace and nonviolence extend well beyond her<br>professional responsibilities.<br>As an educator, Deirdre creates a dynamic classroom environment where students develop a<br>meaningful connection to academic learning and their roles as peaceful and responsible change<br>agents. She takes Global Civic Responsibility seriously and is a strong advocate for marginalized<br>populations.<br>Deirdre&#8217;s work emphasizes positive change, peaceful communication, holistic well-being,<br>resilience, and advocacy for justice and human rights. Her Communication Studies lectures<br>incorporate engaging activities and case studies related to social justice, environmental<br>sustainability, and peacebuilding. Deirdre believes in the importance of lifelong learning and<br>that, as global citizens, we must cultivate practical, ethical, and compassionate communication<br>skills to enhance our civic engagement with the world.<br>Her personal and professional mission is to foster positive change at URI and beyond, inspiring<br>others to communicate effectively, peacefully, ethically, and compassionately. She aims to be a<br>supportive role model, committed to delivering clear, consistent, and peaceful communication in<br>all her interactions.<br>Deirdre Morrison is a graduate of URI&#8217;s MBA program and is a certified Level 1 Trainer in<br>Kingian Nonviolence and Conflict Reconciliation.
