Welcome to the North Woods\u2019 website! Here you will find information about this important part of the URI campus. The North Woods is a space for the campus and surrounding communities to explore, learn, and enjoy. It lies adjacent to the URI main campus, encompassing 307 acres just to the north across Flagg Road. The land includes 225 acres of forest, wetlands, and headwater streams; intramural athletic fields; and a solar panel array built on a reclaimed Superfund site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The North Woods serve as an experiential resource for the entire URI community. It\u2019s within walking distance of all dorms, allowing all students to access the beautiful nature that surrounds our campus. Many classes at URI take advantage of North Woods as a living laboratory and experiential learning destination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The North Woods is home to over 500 different species, and the list is growing as students and faculty continue to conduct research in this natural outdoor laboratory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academics<\/h2>

Many classes visit the North Woods for fieldwork, teaching, and research. Undergraduate and graduate students use the North Woods for hands-on project opportunities. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

Get Involved<\/h2>
