{"id":20024,"date":"2024-01-26T11:02:24","date_gmt":"2024-01-26T16:02:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nursing\/?p=20024"},"modified":"2024-01-26T11:02:24","modified_gmt":"2024-01-26T16:02:24","slug":"photos-class-of-2026-welcomed-to-nursing-profession-at-white-coat-ceremony-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nursing\/2024\/01\/26\/photos-class-of-2026-welcomed-to-nursing-profession-at-white-coat-ceremony-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Photos: Class of 2026 welcomed to nursing profession at White Coat Ceremony"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.uri.edu\/nursing\/meet\/danny-willis-dns-rn-faan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dean Danny Willis<\/a> and the faculty of the URI College of Nursing welcomed the Class of 2026 into the nursing profession during the semi-annual White Coat Ceremony Friday morning in Edwards Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>After greetings from Dean Willis, Associate Dean Susan DeSanto-Madeya, Assistant Professor Jung Eun Lee and Boston Children\u2019s Hospital Clinical Psychologist and nurse Elaine Meyer, students crossed the stage to receive their white lab coats, then recited a pledge to uphold the ethics and principles of the nursing profession, which reads:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a nurse dedicated to providing the highest quality care and service, I solemnly pledge that I will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consider the welfare of humanity and relief of suffering my primary concerns;<\/li>\n<li>Act in a compassionate and trustworthy manner in all aspects of my care;<\/li>\n<li>Apply my knowledge, experience and skills to the best of my ability to assure optimal outcomes for my patients;<\/li>\n<li>Exercise sound professional judgment while abiding by legal and ethical requirements;<\/li>\n<li>Accept the lifelong obligation to improve my professional knowledge and competence;<\/li>\n<li>Promote, advocate for and strive to protect the health, safety and rights of the patient.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With this pledge, I accept the duties and responsibilities that embody the nursing profession.
